Message: “Cost of Belonging” from Merle Shank

This Sunday we begin a new sermon series entitled “Belong”. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be looking at what it means to be an authentic community; a place with more than enough room for all of us to “fit”; a place where we can find God, find meaningful relationships and maybe even find ourselves. We’ll get started by looking at a somewhat unlikely story: the story of what might be called “the prodigal community” of Luke 15. Specifically, we’ll look closely at the response of the often overlooked servants in this story and see what we can learn from them.

Belong. At some point in our lives, many of us have felt like we don't belong. Perhaps many of us currently feel that way. And in a church the size of Grace Covenant, it can sometimes feel a bit difficult to belong. As we open our our new "Belong" sermon series this Sunday, we will spend the next 5 weeks looking at what it means to belong to a community of believers. God never intended for any of us to live this Christian life alone. He is a God of relationship and in relationship and He desires the same to be true of us as His followers.
