The cross of Jesus hangs as history’s dividing line, its effects define our eternity. It is the means of our salvation and the symbol of our hope. Death by crucifixion is regarded as one of the most gruesome, painful and humiliating forms of execution. Jesus willingly endured the shame of the cross in anticipation of the joy of our redemption. It was His incomparable love for us, and the joy of our coming salvation, that carried Him through the agony of the cross to defeat the power of death forever. His joy towards us is infectious and leads to rejoicing in our risen Savior!
