Hope at Last

Brighter Still

One turn of the page in your Bible; one swipe of the screen on your Bible app. That's all it takes to go from the Old Testament to the New Testament. Rather easy; pretty non-eventful. But was it? Did you know that one page represents 400 years. And it was 400 years of silence. Oh, events still happened and the people still carried on. The silence wasn't on their part; it was on God's part. No prophets speaking to them like generations before; no dreams guiding them; no sign of the Messiah that had been promised to them. For 400 years, the silence from heaven was deafening. Hope was low...really low. But then. Angels began to appear and make proclamations; people began to have dreams where God spoke; the stars in the sky were doing some unique things. Something was happening. Something was shifting. Was there hope at last?

From Series: "Brighter Still"

We begin our 4-week Advent series, Brighter Still. Advent - the time to remember the coming of Jesus to earth as a baby. Christmas. The Savior of the world was born and in the blink of an eye, He brought light to the darkness and hope to the hopeless. And His light and His hope still shine bright today! "The light shines bright in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it." (John 1:5- NLT). The Light - Jesus- shines bright. Brighter Still.
