Thanks-in-ing

Perhaps you're reading this before Thursday's big Thanksgiving meal; perhaps you're reading it afterwards. In either case, the fact remains that we are in the Thanksgiving season (albeit briefly before we begin barreling into the Christmas season!). "Thanksgiving" or "give thanks" appears in the Bible over 100 times. Must be an important topic for God to have inspired the writers of scripture to mention it so often! It's relatively easy to be thankful for the things that are going well & when life is hitting on all cylinders. But what do we do with a verse like 1 Thessalonians 5:18 that tells us to give thanks in everything (aka when things are not going well; when life is not hitting on all cylinders?). Is that even possible?
