The Coming of Age
I remember when I was finally old enough to stay home with my siblings -without a babysitter -while my parents when out. It was freedom like I’d never experienced before! It was a momentous experience that changed the way I viewed myself. And now, in the middle of this letter to the Galatians, Paul takes a moment to remind these believers that the purpose of the law was to keep them in line, much like a babysitter, until they were old enough to take hold of the inheritance that was promised to them. Now that Jesus has come, the purpose of the law is complete and it’s time to live; really live! As believers, we no longer live as slaves (or little children in need of a babysitter) but as adult children receiving our inheritance!

From Series: "Galatians"
You've probably all heard it said, "If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is." A deal or an offer pops up and we feel like we've just been given an incredible offer of a lifetime...for about 15 seconds. Then something in our gut says, "Wait a second, that seems too good to be true...". And more times than not, we're exactly right. We begin our new summer sermon series: "By Grace Alone", a study of the book of Galatians. From the very beginning of the book, Paul calls out the people for "following a different way that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News." (1:7). Because being saved by grace (alone) through faith seemed too good to be true, the people couldn't believe it. How about you?
