Simeon and Anna: Faithfully Farsighted

Do you See What I See

Simeon and Anna. Two people that make somewhat of a fleeting appearance in the story of Jesus’ birth. Fleeting, perhaps. But the effects of their parts in the Christmas story are far-reaching and lasting.

From Series: "Do you See What I See"

Our God doesn’t think the way we think and He doesn’t work in the ways we would – in fact, His thoughts and His ways are WAY beyond and WAY above ours – HE surpasses us in every WAY (Isa. 55:8-9). When we read the familiar story of Jesus’ birth, don’t you wonder why God did things that way? A teenager, pregnant, before she is married – how scandalous, right? Many of us are blessed to have warm memories about the ways that our families have celebrated Christmas. How do you think this story that we celebrate with such joy and hope was experienced by young Mary and Joseph?
