Jesus wasn’t an itinerant minister preaching wherever a crowd gathered. He wasn’t a traveling doctor randomly healing people. And he wasn’t a magician performing signs and wonders only to astound. Jesus was (and is!) the Messiah who was on a specific mission to save the people of Israel first. When an outsider came seeking a miracle, Jesus offensively explains that her request is for the future. Undeterred, her faith impresses Jesus and pulls tomorrow’s promise into today.
