Imagine it: a bunch of guys without access to regular showers, before the invention of Old Spice, feet caked with dust and mud all huddled in a room waiting to eat (is this what Vision Quest is like?!). Social protocol required the lowliest servant to wash their feet, but instead, Jesus stooped down and served his disciples. This act of service set the stage both in practice and in the spirit for how we too have been sent to serve.
