If you want to get a friend or employee, a child or spouse on board with something you’re doing, you might be tempted to ‘spin’ the truth a bit; to sell an idea highlighting the upside and skipping over the challenges that will inevitably come with it. Jesus, however, gave the whole picture to his followers promising trouble ahead and noting that it was his presence and his peace that were even better than a life of ease.
